McIntosh Gives Back

McIntosh Laboratory Inc. has been in the audio equipment and home theater business for almost 60 years now. It has now become a world leader in its industry and has managed to set the standard in the home entertainment field. It is now an institution due to its loyal and avid customers whose consideration in buying is the quality and not the price. McIntosh audio equipment is definitely expensive, but it is worth it. A McIntosh audio system is all anybody would ever need to buy.

In its aim to give back to its faithful but discriminating clients and reaffirm its commitment to them, it launched a new and expanded version of the popular “Trade-UP Incentive Program” for the current year. This program gives McIntosh owners, for a limited time only, a way of upgrading their old products to current models through trading or swapping. It does not matter how old the product for swapping is as long as it is McIntosh and as long as it is in working condition. By dropping by any participating McIntosh dealers, the consumers may begin trading their old models for new power amplifiers, integrated amplifiers and receivers, etc. and receive up to 75% of its original MSRP to a current mode and brand new McIntosh product.

This Trade-UP Incentive Program is created to show the customers of McIntosh how they are valued by the company and as a form of reward for their loyalty and for valuing American craftsmanship, style and dependability in their choice of products. The program opened the eyes of McIntosh to the fact that there are a big number of McIntosh audio products owner all over the country and that these owners have been utilizing these products for many years already.

All owners of products that are still functional and still maintain their original designs are qualified to join. More information about this program is detailed in the website of McIntosh.

Frank McIntosh, The Man Behind the McIntosh Audio Equipment

Frank McIntoshFrank H. McIntosh is the founder of the McIntosh Laboratory Inc., the makers of high quality audio equipment that has set the standard in the audio industry. He started his career with Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey, where he worked for 10 years. Thereafter, he worked for Graybar Corporation as a broadcast sales representative. He then became the head of the radio and radar division of the War Productions Board during World War II.

In 1949, Frank McIntosh officially became the president of his own company, the McIntosh Laboratory Inc. He then lived a successful career in designing, manufacturing and launching various McIntosh audio products, e.g., amplifiers, preamplifiers, power amplifiers, car audio, videos, loudspeakers and various audio accessories.

Little does anyone know however, that aside from being an accomplished businessman, Frank H. McIntosh is also an environmentalist and an animal lover. In fact, he bought farms in the towns of Barker, Maine and Naticoke, filled up ponds for animals, owned 8,000 acres of rustic land in New Mexico, Arizona and California, created a game preserve where animals could roam freely which cost him about $200,000, owned 1,700 acres of rural property in Broome County, planted 75,000 trees and paid $10,000 yearly in property taxes.

In 1990, Frank H. McIntosh passed away at the age of 83. Also in 1990, McIntosh Laboratory Inc. was purchased by Clarion, whose vision was to expand its presence in the car audio industry. To this day, the legacy left behind by Frank McIntosh is still thriving and is indeed worthy of its famous name.
